The Doctor and the Granny

故事全文

Once upon a time, in a remote village, there lived a rich old woman. She fell very ill one day and went blind. One day, a friend brought a doctor to treat the old woman's eyes. The old woman said excitedly,"Doctor, if you make me see again, I will reward you handsomely!"

And so the doctor visited the old woman once every two days and used the best medicine to treat the old woman's eyes. However, the doctor would steal something each time he went to the old woman"s house. After some time, the doctor had stolen all the old woman's belongings.

One day, the old woman discovered she could see again. But she refused to pay the doctor. She told the doctor that something was still wrong with her eyes. The doctor was very angry and took the old woman to the village chief. The village chief asked the old woman,"Old woman, if you can see things, why do you say there is something wrong with your eyes?" The old woman replied,"When I was blind, I knew where my belongings were. The doctor now claims that my eyes are healed, but my house is empty, I do not see any of my belongings." The doctor heard what the old woman said and felt ashamed for what he did. In the end, the village chief asked the doctor to return the old woman's belongings and asked the old woman to pay the doctor.

This story tells us that no bad deed goes unpunished. The truth will always prevail.
