Little Monkey was a happy student, who always fell asleep during Mr. Deer's class. He did not pay attention at school, and never did his homework. Little Rabbit was Little Monkey's friend, and he was a good student. Little Rabbit told Little Monkey, "Little Monkey, you have to study hard. Do not play all day or you will not be able to pass the exam!" Little Monkey laughed and replied, "Everything will be fine! Do not worry so much!" Then, Little Monkey ran off to play hide and seek with Little Goat.
After a few days, Mr. Deer said, "Dear students, we have learned a lot so far. There will be an exam tomorrow to test your understanding of the subject." When Little Monkey heard this, he started to panic. "Oh no! I haven"t studied at all. I am sure to fail the exam tomorrow." When he got home and finished his dinner, Little Monkey took out his textbook and started to study. He did not dare sleep, even when it was time for bed. His mother saw that he was not sleeping and asked Little Monkey, "My dear, Why are you not sleeping?" Little Monkey replied, "Mr. Deer says there will be an exam tomorrow, but I have not studied at all. I dare not go to sleep." His mother said, "This is all because you were not a conscientious student. If you had studied every day, you would not need to stay awake now. I will help you with revision." Little Monkey said, "Thank you, Mama, studying last minute is so tiring. I will be a conscientious student from now on."
The next morning, Little Monkey went to school with dark rings under his eyes. He met Little Rabbit along the way. Little Rabbit asked, "Little Monkey, Why do you have dark rings under your eyes? You look so funny!" Little Monkey replied, "This is because I was not a conscientious student, and only started to study at the last minute."
